What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is a modern image format based on HEIF. Apple devices commonly use it for photos because it can store high-quality images in smaller files than older formats. Some websites, apps, and older computers do not open HEIC files reliably.
Why convert HEIC to JPG?
JPG works almost everywhere: websites, email apps, document editors, social platforms, and older devices. Converting makes an iPhone photo easier to share or upload when a service does not accept HEIC.
Does conversion reduce image quality?
JPG uses lossy compression, so conversion can remove some image detail. The default 90% quality setting keeps a strong visual result for most photos while reducing file size. Choose a higher setting when detail matters most.
Are images uploaded?
No. The selected images are decoded and converted locally in your browser for this tool. They are not sent to a Web MultiTools conversion server. Temporary browser URLs are removed when you clear files, leave the page, or replace converted results.
Does it work on iPhone photos?
Yes, standard HEIC and HEIF photos from iPhones are the main use case. Very large files, unusual HEIF variants, unsupported codecs, or limited browser memory can still prevent a conversion. If that happens, the file stays on your device and the tool displays an error.
HEIC vs JPG
HEIC usually offers better compression and can support features such as image sequences, while JPG has much wider compatibility. This converter creates one JPG image from each selected file; features such as animations, depth maps, or extra HEIF frames are not preserved.
