FREE SUSPICIOUS LINK CHECKER

Is this link safe?

Inspect a URL's structure locally without visiting the submitted website. The result identifies technical warning signs, not a guarantee of safety.

We inspect the URL structure only. We will not visit, fetch, resolve, or download anything from the destination.

Analyzed locally in this browser · The submitted website was not visited

This check analyzes URL structure, not destination content, ownership, safety, or reputation.

What makes a link suspicious?

Common warning signs include a misspelled or lookalike domain, a trusted name hidden in a subdomain, an IP address instead of a domain, unusual user information before an @ symbol, heavy encoding, nested redirect URLs, risky file extensions, or several anomalies appearing together.

Does HTTPS mean a website is safe?

No. HTTPS encrypts the connection, which is a positive technical property, but scam websites can use HTTPS too. The padlock does not verify ownership, page content, downloads, or the truth of a website's claims. Learn what HTTPS does and does not prove.

Why can shortened links be risky?

A URL shortener hides the final destination, so this local checker cannot see where the short link eventually redirects. A shortened link is not automatically malicious, but unexpected links involving logins, payments, or downloads deserve independent verification.

What is Punycode?

Punycode represents internationalized domain names in an ASCII format beginning with xn--. It is used legitimately, but similar-looking Unicode characters can also create confusion. Read the beginner's Punycode guide.

What does the @ symbol mean in a URL?

In a web URL, text before @ is user information—not the destination. The actual hostname appears after the @ symbol. That structure can be used to make a link look as though it points somewhere familiar.

Why might an IP-address URL deserve caution?

A raw IPv4 or IPv6 address gives you no recognizable domain name to compare with the organization being claimed. It can be legitimate for local systems or testing, but it deserves additional scrutiny when paired with HTTP, an unusual port, or a login or payment path.

Local structural analysis only. The submitted website is not visited. This checker does not verify reputation, ownership, domain age, page content, malware, redirects, downloads, or current threat intelligence.
