How to View Email Headers
An email header contains technical delivery details that are usually hidden from the normal message view. A full header can reveal authentication results, routing, Return-Path, Message-ID, and other useful evidence.
Outlook for Windows
In classic Outlook, open the message in its own window, choose File, then Properties. Copy the text in Internet headers. In the new Outlook, open the message menu and look for View, then View message details. Labels can vary by version.
Outlook on the web
Open the message, select the three-dot More actions menu, choose View, then View message details. Copy the complete header text.
Gmail
Open the message, select the three-dot menu next to Reply, and choose Show original. Copy the original message or the full header section.
Apple Mail and other apps
In Apple Mail on macOS, open the message and use View, Message, All Headers. Some mobile apps do not expose the full raw header; using the provider's web interface may be easier.
Handle headers carefully
Headers can contain email addresses, IP addresses, internal server names, and message identifiers. Remove sensitive details before sharing publicly. Paste the complete header into a trusted local analyzer for the strongest technical assessment.
